Clare College Boat Club (CCBC) was founded in 1831. It celebrated its centenary in 1931, its 150th anniversary in 1981 and the 175 anniversary in 2006.
Strict clauses had been added to the 1551 statutes so not more than two Fellows could come from the same county of the UK (presumably to discourage cronyism). This was overturned in this 1828 revision: 'in future the society be directed by that part of the original statutes of Lady Clare which declares that no question is to be made of what nation the candidates are'.
This Colleges wide committee was established to oversee the development and conservation of the Backs area of Cambridge.
Established in 2011 to bring together expertise, energy and ideas from staff, students and fellows to help reduce the College's environmental footprint

Kurt Lipstein 1909-2006, Law Professor, Fellow of Clare College since 1956, was a familiar sight at Clare. He was one of the oldest Fellows and was still teaching just before his death aged 97 on 2nd December 2006
