Born in 1879 the son of Charles Gould K.C. of Guildford House, Farnham, Surrey, and Mary Ellen Utterton, daughter of the Bishop of Guildford

Assistant Master at Giggleswick School for 7 years; at Wellington College (and House Master), 1911-43

Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (2nd Lieutenant, King's Own (Yorks. L.I.); Captain and Adjt., Lovat's Scouts; Captain, Special List (Intelligence Staff)
