Accounts relating to the management of the estate of Godfrey Harold Wilson, Master of Clare 1929-39. It is not clear, although it is likely that the College acted as an executor to Wilson's estate (which is presumably how the accounts ended up in the College Archives). They estate was finally wound up in 1982.
At the beginning of the volume is:
(1) a copy of the will of Barnabas Oley, with 4 codicils, 1684-1685 (proved 1686)
(2) an abstract of Oley's will, 1750
(3) a memoranda of presentations to the vicarage of Warmfield (Yorks), 1763-1797
At the end of the volume is:
(1) a memoranda of payments to deserving cases, 1732-1750.
Includes forecasts of accounts.
Includes the judgement of the Master and Fellows in the dispute between Mr Mansfield and Mr Cresswell (John Mansfield, admitted 1778, and Francis Cresswell, admitted 1780),1800. Also includes students' accounts from 1850.
Reused as accounts of offerings at communion in Chapel, 1856-1896.
Includes accounts with Samuel Herring, stockbroker.
Accounts of deductions from servants' wages for pensions, National Insurance and income tax.
At the end of the volume are Butler's accounts, 1643-1659, and draft College accounts, 1628-1631.
The Butlers' accounts include those of other servants.
Chiefly wages accounts for gyps responsible for officers, but also includes room rents, coal and furnishings.
