Letters mainly from James (Jim) Marris to his parents (Pop and Mum), George Christopher and Nancie Marris and his brother, Tyrell Marris, while at Clare between 1942 and 1943. They mention work, attendance at lectures, debates and the theatre, fire watching, rowing and participating in the bumps, sailing, setting up the College Labour group and joining the STC (Student Training Corps).

Includes menus for the Boat Club with Centenary dinner menu and list of members, 1931; other sports teams, Dilettanti Society, Commemoration dinners 1920-1928, special College feasts and order of service for Advent Carol Service, 1930.

Most of the menus have been signed by the dinner guests and the Boat Club dinner menus include lists of names of the crews.
