This series of records relates to the Freeman Foundation, which was set up following a bequest from John Freeman by his will of 1614. The Freeman scholarships started in 1618. The Foundation was based on lands at Risby, Linwood and Tetney purchased in 1622.
Letters patent of James I granting a special licence to the Master and Fellows to purchase or receive property of yearly value of 300 pounds. Probably in connection with endowment of Freeman Foundation.
